At Jamnasha, we believe jewelry is more than just an ornament—it’s a piece of art, a story, and a celebration of heritage. Among our finest creations is the Seep Mahal Necklace, a handmade masterpiece that took over a year to bring to life. This necklace is inspired by the iconic Hawa Mahal, also known as the “Palace of Winds,” in Jaipur, India.
The Story Behind the Necklace
The Hawa Mahal is one of India’s most stunning architectural wonders. Its delicate windows and domes tell tales of royal life and timeless craftsmanship. We wanted to honor this heritage by creating something unique—a piece of jewelry that blends tradition, beauty, and artistry.
That’s how the idea for the Seep Mahal Necklace was born. Our goal was to craft a necklace that reflects the charm of the Hawa Mahal while using natural materials to symbolize purity and sustainability. It wasn’t just about creating jewelry; it was about telling a story of history and dedication.
How the Seep Mahal Necklace Was Made
This necklace took an extraordinary 13 months to complete because every detail was handcrafted with precision and care.
- Seashells were chosen as the primary material for the necklace. Each shell was hand-broken and polished to achieve the perfect shape. It was a painstaking process, but it allowed us to create something truly one-of-a-kind.
- The windows and domes of the Hawa Mahal, which are the necklace’s centerpiece, were carefully recreated using brass wire. These miniature frames were designed to capture the architectural beauty of the original monument.
- To make it shine, we embedded 524 sparkling zircons into the tiny windows, giving the necklace a dazzling look.
- We incorporated 240 grams of pure 92.5 sterling silver, combined with 230 grams of seashells and pearls, making the necklace not only beautiful but also substantial. Additionally, 30 grams of brass and other metals were used to complete the intricate details.
Each step of the process was done by hand—breaking, polishing, shaping, and assembling every element with unmatched dedication. The result is a necklace that is not only beautiful but also deeply meaningful.
Why We Created the Seep Mahal Necklace
The inspiration for this necklace came from our love for Indian heritage and a desire to celebrate its rich culture. The Hawa Mahal is a symbol of elegance and grace, and we wanted to capture that essence in the form of jewelry.
This necklace is a tribute to the artisans of the past, whose work continues to inspire us today. It is also a reminder of the timeless connection between art, nature, and history. By using seashells, silver, and zircons, we combined the beauty of the natural world with the splendor of architectural design.
The Journey Behind the Necklace
Crafting the Seep Mahal Necklace was a labor of love. It wasn’t easy—it required patience, creativity, and countless hours of work. But seeing the finished piece made it all worth it. This necklace is not just an accessory; it is a symbol of passion, heritage, and craftsmanship.
